Monday Must-Haves
I cannot believe Christmas is in only 5 more days! I spent a good portion of today addressing Christmas cards and am excited to mail them off tomorrow - not only to send cheery Christmas wishes but to check them off my "to do" list! It seems the holidays are filled with so many "to do's" - does it get overwhelming and leave us little energy left to enjoy the miracle of the season? Some moments it may feel like that, but all I need to do is plug in my Christmas lights, read a Bible verse from our daily advent calendar or put in a Christmas cd and all the joyous, extraordinary feelings of Christmas come flowing back into my heart. Today's Monday Must-Haves are unsurprisingly Christmas related. Enjoy this week and don't let the everyday miracles pass you by!
1) Family - After spending the day with both sets of our parents who came down to enjoy our Christmas Concert that Daddy was a part of this morning at church, I can't help but be incredibly grateful for the blessing that is our family! How fortunate my children are to be able to spend the entire day with both sets of grandparents showering them with love? Add to that the amazing blessing that my parents and in-laws get along so well and enjoy hanging out together whether we kids (and the grandkids) are present or not! I could not imagine my life without the sustained love, faith and strength I have received from my family. From my grandparents, to parents, sister, brother, sister & brother-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins...I love them all so much and they have forever been, and will continue to be, a Must-Have in my life. For those that do not have family such as this, I hope you have been able to find closeness and love in friendships and that you know your Heavenly Father is ALWAYS there to love and adore you with open arms.
2) Address Labels - Okay not as touching as my first Must-Have, I know, but after all the time I've spent addressing envelopes today - I am SO thankful I didn't have to write my return address on all of them as well! I just pulled my little adhesive label off and stuck it on. Easy, peasy. Even better for the environment might have been to use a return address stamp. I actually have one of these too and love it, but I wanted something more holiday themed for our Christmas card return address labels this year. Silly I know, but that's me.
3) 8 Hours of Sleep - For some reason the holidays make me stay up late! It's partly due to my "vacation" mentality now that Daddy is off work for a few weeks and partly due to a "to do" list a mile long. Some of it may be due to the many Hallmark holiday movies I need to watch, enjoy and clear off of my DVR. Crazy how enjoying a holiday movie can also be put on a "to do" list to be checked off isn't it? Well regardless, I still understand that a good, full nights sleep is important to maintaining holiday cheer and keeping that immune system in top shape to fight off the abundant germs that are around us everywhere right now. With that said, I am signing off and promising NOT to stay up too late tonight!
