They're listening...

While sitting in my office working on some paperwork today I overheard the following from McGee's room (I'm guessing he was "reading" a book - or giving a sermon):

"Always be good and listen to your parents.  And always obey Jesus and your parents, because they just want you to be happy.  Be good to others too, not just yourself, but be good to ALL (his emphasis) people everywhere.  Trust God and be thankful for all you have."

It did my heart a world of good to hear these words from his mouth.  As a mom you try to teach them, discipline them, hoping truth and goodness will sink in and take hold for the long haul in their hearts.  After many moments of frustration over sibling bickering lately, it was so nice to think that maybe, just maybe, some of what I've said has been sinking in.  Like maybe my points about some children in the world not having any food and thus, he should be grateful for the turkey and cheese sandwich on whole wheat with watermelon for lunch instead of complaining he "doesn't want that". :)  Sound familiar to anyone else?

My rambunctious, but listening, boy
