Awhile back the kids and I emptied McGee's piggy bank and filled as many money rolls as we could. It was a lot of fun for all of us and I was surprised at how quickly all his change added up - thank you grandparents for contributing when you stop by!
This is really a fantastic PROJECT to do with children and EDUCATIONAL too.

They learn SORTING and about different SHAPES and SIZES.
An inexpensive change sorter made things go even faster and smoother
Nothing better than building TEAMWORK
It's a great exercise for the FINE MOTOR SKILLS and PINCHER GRASP
The result: $97.50 that was SAVED and ROLLED
Since we ran out of rolls we decided to SHARE and put some of the leftover change into Em's piggy bank
To celebrate McGee turning 4 last week, we took his SAVED money to the bank and opened his first SAVINGS ACCOUNT. Mommy added $2.50 to start him out with an even $100 and I hope this will begin him on a lifelong journey of learning to SAVE, SPEND WISELY and BE RESPONSIBLE with money.
Heading to the bank with his loot
Heading to the bank with his loot
Picking up after dumping a whole roll of quarters on the bank chair
Putting them in his hat during clean-up...
...and then surprising Mommy by dumping them on his head
(Really...this is NOT how my child behaves in public, let alone a quite, serious type of establishment such as a bank)
Everything is all put back together, just waiting for our turn now
My what a big boy...his savings account
Trying to wait patiently...
...starting to get a little goofy...
...then a little silly...
...blocking out the camera "Stop taking pictures Mommy!" (insert whiny 4 yr. old voice)...
...and there is my sweet boy once again
Sweet boy getting a little funky with his hat...
Proud Mommy (loved the squeezing hugs he was giving me too)
My little man! His first business transaction - complete!
