First Impression

Yesterday I continued playing with my borrowed 50mm lens and took some pictures of my newborn nephew Joshua. I can't believe how big he is getting already and today he is 3 weeks old! Man how time flies! I had all of these cool ideas for poses and brought down (to their house, they only live 3 doors down from us) some nice baskets that I thought would look super great with him laying in. Of course, he was much bigger than I had recollected so unless I curled him up like a snake, my favorite of the two baskets was not going to work. The other basket was also too small, but it was rectangular so I tried to make it work. Sadly it didn't.

Overall it was interesting photographing a newborn. Unlike my two munchkins, I didn't have to chase him around for a shot, but he was a little wiggle worm and it was actually more difficult than I had anticipated to capture the precious essence of a newborn. Here are some of my favorite shots and you can see more by clicking here. Please tell me your favorite and what you like about it. Also for any photographers out there - I'd love some photographing tips or critiques! This was just my first try and I'm hoping to have many more opportunities to practice with this cute little guy.

  1. Oh my! I love his cheeks! Such a sweet boy - I think the one where he is sleeping against the blue is my fav, just cause it's so newborn :)
