Favorite Time of Day

I am most definitely not a morning person, but I have loved how happy each of my children are when they wake up. It makes getting up in the morning so much easier when I know I have a smiling, exuberantly happy and adorable face to wake up and see. With both kids, I usually start by singing one of these two versions of our "Good Morning Song":
"Good morning, good morning, good morning, it's time to rise and shine.
Good morning, good morning, good morning, I hope you're feeling fine.
The sun is just above the hill, another day for us to fill with all the things we love to do,
Oh can't you hear, it's calling you, toodle-ee-do, toodle-ee-do, toodle-ee-do!
Good morning, good morning, good morning, it's time to rise and shine!"
or
"Good morning, good morning, good morning, it's time to rise and shine.
Good morning, good morning, good morning, I hope you're feeling fine.
Good morning, get up, get out of bed, you've got to get up you sleepy head,
the day is calling just for you and all your dreams are coming true...toodle-ee-doo, toodle-ee-doo, toodle-ee-doo!"
Miss Em usually bounces and sways about to the song and McGee always loves it too, he even helps sing it now that he's a bit older. When it was just McGee, back when he was younger, I'd pick him up, get his diaper changed then sit down in the glider to nurse him and sing him this slower and mellower song that I made up:
"It's a good, good morning, it's a good morning, yes it is,
It's a good, good morning, it's a good morning, because it's His.
It's a good, good morning, it's a good morning, yes-sir-ry,
It's a good, good morning, a good morning, for you and for me."
I know, I know, that is a LOT of "goods" to say so early in the morning, but the tempo of the day all begins with your attitude right and why not start it off positive?
I hope you are having a GOOD morning, whatever you're doing. :)

  1. I apologize for the poor formatting of this post, blogger wouldn't let me add spaces between the lines or paragraphs! :(

  2. What a sweet post! I sing those too! :) I'm not a morning person either but thankfully my kids are late sleepers (most mornings).
LOVE LOVE LOVE that picture of Miss Em smiling! How blessed are we!
