1-11-11

1-1-11, I'm seeing this all over Facebook and the blog world and I'm surprised I didn't think of the numeric significance of this day before.  Happy New Year everyone - I hope you had a fantastic and safe evening last night!

Miss Em and I have been sick so we ended up staying home this year.  We had pizza for dinner picnic style while watching some very old Disney short cartoons.  The kids giggle like crazy watching the old clips.  Then we put the kids to bed and Daddy and I watched the first Lord of the Rings movie, watched NKOTB with a very depressing looking Dick Clark as the ball dropped and then I took some Nyquil and headed to bed.

My 2011 started off with very early (around 6:30am) soft singing from McGee.  I ended up sleeping until 11 am despite McGee coming in and waking me up a couple of times.  One time in fact he told me breakfast was ready so I came out expecting one of Daddy's delicious breakfasts only to find out Daddy had thought I was still sleeping and McGee just decided it was time for me to get up and eat.  I headed back to bed and slept for another hour.  That's what Nyquil does for me, it helps me sleep after getting very little sleep the last few nights thanks to coughing.  So when I did finally wake for the day I asked McGee if he was in his room singing early this morning (I wasn't sure if I dreamed it b/c it was so soft) and he said he was.  Apparently he was singing the Lightning McQueen racing song to himself in his room.  He's such a happy morning person, bright and early he is ready to start having fun and it was sweet knowing he stayed in his room an extra 1/2 hour this morning singing to himself before deciding it was time to wake up the rest of the family.

What kind of a start has 2011 had for you?

  1. Ahh, love reading about this all! Ours was pretty mellow with Greg's best friend and his family. The boys actually stayed up with us till 12:30. Long night but they did amazingly well!! I think we are still cathing up! haha! So Sat me and the boys stayed home and vegged out. They slept till 8:30 so that was very nice! Glad you guys got to be low key! I have to agree with you on Dick Clark. He is getting worse every year!! But your night sounded like how I would have liked outs to have been!! ~Raeane =)
